Summer is soon drawing to a close and, in the last couple of weeks, fans were uncertain when they would finally hear word aboutHogwarts Legacy’s release date. Before last week, it was only ever confirmed that a release window of the holiday season this year was aimed for. Then,an official art book compendium forHogwarts Legacyhad seemingly leaked the game’s intended release date alongside the book’s own release date.
Instead, it was recently addressed thatHogwarts Legacy’s release dateis now July 25, 2025, which of course means that it has been delayed. This was bittersweet for fans who finally received a release date, though it is further than they had anticipated. Still, February is only a couple of months out from its previously slated window of the holiday, and news that dropped earlier today reveals that fans will get their next look at it much sooner than that.

Geoff Keighley announced earlier today thatHogwarts Legacywill receive an “exclusive new look” at Gamescom’s kickoff next Tuesday on August 23. It is unknown what exactly is meant to be shown as a new look, and what fans have to look forward to is simply described as a “world premiere.” This could range from a basic look at more gameplay that has not been shown yet to a full-scale trailer with more narrative implications. However, there is one other likely reveal thatHogwarts Legacycould address following its leaks.
Before its release date was seemingly leaked—which has now been debunked, if not changed due to the delay—there was another leak that has yet to be confirmed. The contents ofHogwarts Legacy’s special editionsare purportedly out there for fans to see, and whether this leak is legitimate or not could be addressed by WB Games Avalanche at Gamescom.
Indeed,Hogwarts Legacy’s stated release date suggests that it is hopefully prepared to begin actual marketing leading up to February. If so, its exclusive Gamescom world premiere could address its special edition content and pre-order bonuses.
Hogwarts Legacy’s atmospheric and ambient clipson social media have offered looks at the castle grounds and other areas players may explore, and perhaps its appearance at Gamescom will enlighten fans on what the school’s interiors are like instead.
