Hogwarts Legacyneeds more skin tone options, according to some players. WhileHogwarts Legacyhas a good variety of options when it comes to character creation, it is still lacking in some areas.
In contemporary RPGs, players expect a lot of choices when creating their characters. It’s certainly a selling point most developers like to list among a game’s most attractive features, as players either hope to recreate their likeness in a game or just play around with what’s possible to make truly unique characters. The gameplay ofHogwarts Legacyis widely praised for all its little detailsand how lively the environments feel. Similarly, many players overall were happy with the character creation options, but there were still some who didn’t quite feel represented by what’s currently available.

In theHogwarts Legacysubreddit some users lamented the fact they can’t recreate their own skin tone in the game, as even the lightest version seems all too dark for their complexion. Many other users voiced their agreement, saying that it seems quite difficult to create an authentic redhead character with the options available inHogwarts Legacy. Even more frustratingly, some mentioned that while players can encounter NPCs with lighter skin tonesin the game such as Matilda Weasley, those tones are not available in character creation.
This discussion also sparked some creative conversations about how to achieve a complexion that appears lighter. Users said for one, it doesn’t seem like the skin tones go strictly from lighter to darker as some of them found the third skin tone from the left to be lighter than the very first one. Not to mention the fact that by applying the right complexion on top of the base skin tone, it is possible to achieve lighter results. However, these all seem to be creative attempts to fix what’s clearly missing from thecharacter creation options ofHogwarts Legacy.
Whether thedevs ofHogwarts Legacydecide to add moreoptions to character creation remains to be seen. But it’s obvious it would win them even more appreciation from the fans.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions launching May 5 and a Switch port releasing July 25.
