While it had been in a beta stage for some time, when the roguelike action titleHadesfully launched in 2020, it seemed to take the gaming world by storm. Praised by both general audiences and critics for its storytelling, music, dialogue, and gameplay,Hadeswon the first ever Hugo Award for Best Video Game, as well as multiple other awards like the BAFTA for Best Game. The title also racked up some impressive sales figures, having sold over a million copies at the time of writing.
ConsideringHades’success, many wondered why its developer Supergiant Games didn’t release any additional content for the game.Hadesfeatures famous characters from Greek mythology, such as Zeus, Aphrodite, and Demeter. However, it does not contain every god in the Greek pantheon, and many prominent figures like Apollo and Hephaestus are missing. To many fans, these figures would’ve made perfect additions in aHadesDLC. Rather than wait for Supergiant to possibly make additions to the game, one fan has taken it upon themselves to giveHadesan unofficial expansion.

A modder known as AlexKage on Nexus Mods has created what they term “OlympusExtra,” a piece of additional content forHadesthat currently gives the player access to a new god. Specifically, the god of music, divination, and the bow, Apollo, is available toHadesplayers, complete with a unique hand-drawn design similar to the other characters in the game. Like the other gods, Apollo can also give boons and upgrades to Zagreus in “OlympusExtra.”
Apollo even comes with his own unique voice lines and sound effects. There are also duo boons that can be picked up, featuring Apollo and a combination of another god’s power, such as that of Athena, Dionysus, and Zeus. While the addition of an extra god is enough to shift the wayHadesis played, AlexKage isn’t done with just the addition of Apollo. Currently, there are plans to include Hephaestus, Hestia, and Hera. While these gods will come with new boons and everything else that a god offers the player inHades, there doesn’t seem to be any intention to make other additions to the game, such as putting in some newWeapon Aspects forHadesplayers to use.
AsHadesis such a well-received game, fans are constantly wanting more. The game has plenty of features to keep players interested over dozens of hours, including side quests, romances, and aunique take on Greek mythologywhich interested so many players inHadesto begin with. The addition of mods could make up for anything fans believe to be missing fromHades, too, refreshing the game for those who believe they’ve done everything the Underworld has to offer. Anyone wanting to download Apollo for their game can do so now at Nexus Mods.
Hadesis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
