Many fans are hyped by the recent information coming out thatGotham Knightshas been announced atDC FanDome. While the game news was just released earlier today, the game has been hinted at for around a year and the game’s name was leaked in July. However, some more surprising details were revealed, and a representative from the game’s developer discussed why Batman was killed in this game.
While there are still many things that fans don’t know aboutGotham Knights, the trailer for the new Batman game gave fans some insight into what kind of story they can expect when the game is released. However, many fans are not sure of what aGotham Citywithout Batman will look like, and WB Games Montreal is cluing gamers into the thought that was put into this decision.

TheGotham Knightstrailerstarts off with a transmission from Batman, letting members of the Bat-family know that he has died, and the Bat Cave has been destroyed. During the Legacy of the Bat panel at DC FanDome, WB Games Montreal’s creative director Patrick Redding gave fans more insight into why this was decided for the game.
According the Redding, those working on the game wanted to “take away any certainty, any feeling of safety.” Batman has been protecting the streets of Gotham City for many years, and during that time, he’s developed a finely-tuned system of allies as well as a name that the city trusts. Now, the player no longer has that stability in the game to lean on, and that creates an entirely different atmosphere in a city that the player has still had experience with.
Redding also said that this creates a situation that players need to figure out for themselves. They will be the ones to build the next heroes of Gotham, not just taking the reigns of an already well-established superhero, and creating the legacy of Red Hood, Robin,Batgirl, and Nightwing in this universe. While these characters may have some backstory in this game’s world, this story and the players who pilot these superheros will be the ones who mold them into theGotham Knights.
DC FanDome is bringing gaming fans of the comic franchises a lot of good news including more information on Rocksteady Studio’sSuicide Squadgame as well. While this isn’t giving the stories of these games away, this is giving fans a lot of details that they can look forward to in 2021, whenGotham Knightsis scheduled to be released.
