Genshin Impacthas officially confirmed the release date and time of the upcoming Special Program for version 4.0. Before the arrival of every new update, developer HoYoverse hosts a live stream event that introduces players to all the upcoming content which includes new regions, characters, weapons, or quest lines.
Genshin Impacthas already confirmed that version 4.0 will allow players to finally step foot into a new major region named Fontaine. This region is home to the Hydro Archon which means that players can expect water to play a large role in the nation’s overall design.

Genshin Impact’s official Twitter account has officially confirmed the exact release date of the new Special Program event for update 4.0. According to the announcement, the live stream will be held on August 4 at 07:30 AM (UTC-4). The event will start 30 minutes earlier than usual which led many players to believe that it will be longer than the previous Special Programs which makes sense since they will be introducing a brand-new region. After a couple of filler updates, Travelers seem excited to finally see the game’s main storyline advance. One of the recently introduced teasers has already revealedseveral differentGenshin Impactcharactersthat will probably join the playable roster in the future.
One of these characters could be the famous Harbinger known as Arlecchino who has been portrayed as the main villain in the Fontaine arc so far. When it comes to characters that will join the roster in Fontaine’s first update, HoYoverse has already confirmed three playable units, Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. While all three of them areconfirmed forGenshin Impact4.0, there is still no official information about their banner placements.
The official bio has revealed that Lyney and Lynette are siblings who work as magicians for the Fontaine Opera House, one of the most iconic locations in the Hydro nation. The two most anticipated characters are probably Arlecchino andthe Hydro Archon Focalorswho also made an appearance in Fontaine’s promotional videos.
The teasers also revealed a brand-newdiving mechanic that will be added toGenshin Impact, probably with update 4.0. This new feature will allow players to dive deep underwater and explore a completely different world filled with exciting creatures. HoYoverse did not specify if this new mechanic will be exclusive to Fontaine or if players will be able to explore the waters of the four previously introduced regions.
Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
