ASkyrimplayer was recently startled when a small cat tried to deliver something to them as a courier. While they had installed a mod, the change to the courier system was unexpected, and has charmed the playerbase.

Specifically, the mod swapped out the usual humanoids that arrive as couriers with an Alfiq Khajit, a small, housecat-sized take on the species. Usually not seen inSkyrim, this mod adds Alfiq Khajit to the title, and one of them apparently found work in delivering messages.

Reddit user keystoneway went to theSkyrimsubreddit to share their funny but startled moment when what looked like a small housecat wearing clothes arrived to deliver a message to them. Beingspooked by the courier inSkyrimis something that happens to many players, as the courier has a tendency to arrive when players least expect it. However, seeing a fuzzy cat politely deliver the message and then leave surprised keystoneway so much that they say they shrieked when they saw it.

The mod in question is Creatures of Nirn - Khajiit Alfiq, which is available on the NexusMods site. The mod brings a number of Alfiq Khajit to the game, which can usually be found amongKhajit caravansand certain guilds, like the College of Winterhold or Thieves' Guild. Their presence in these locations makes a certain amount of sense, as in Elder Scrolls lore, these small quadrupedal Khajit are capable of magic, and their small size makes them a good choice for sneaking around. However, the mod didn’t make mention of the replacement courier, so it came as a shocking - but pleasant - surprise for keystoneway.

For those not in the know, the size and appearance of Khajit are largely based around the cycle of the moons when they’re born. Many of these haven’t been seen much or at all, but the lore stipulates that Khajit can have quite differing appearances, ranging from aquadrupedal house cat-like Alfiqto the Ohmes, which look like smaller Bosmer Elves. Most importantly, Alfiq Khajit are just as mentally capable as their human-sized counterparts, and can speak the Tamrielic language with ease.

While the small Alfiq Khajit are absent inSkyrimordinarily, they have made some appearances inElder Scrolls Online. It’s unknown at this time if theKhajit breed will be inThe Elder Scrolls 6, but even if they aren’t, chances are modders will come along and add them on their own, as they’ve done here.

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrimis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
