Summary
TheResident Evil 4 Remakewas a masterpiece and undoubtedly did the original game justice, keeping key elements faithful to the source material while still updating other gameplay aspects to make it look and feel better thanks to the RE Engine. While the game already has enough replayability on its own and even gives players more incentive to relive the experience over again upon completion, mods can make a second (or third) run of the gameeven more enjoyable.
A third or fourth run of the game doesn’t have the same scare factor that it does the first time around, so why not make it funny instead? Something as simple as changing a character model or adding something to a model can make a world of difference and offer an entirely new experience. 1Lapras Jet Ski
Replaces Jetski In Final Scene With A Lapras
This mod is subtle in the sense that it only affects one particular part of the entire story. At the end of the game, Leon and Ashley refuse Ada’s help and find a stylish ride of their own to escape the island: a jet ski. This mod replaces the jet ski that Leon and Ashley make their great escape on and allows the duo to see how it feels to be aPokemontrainerriding around on a Lapras!
This mod may only affect one model throughout the game, but there’s no doubt that it changes the entire atmosphere of the last escape sequence!
2Potassium Power
Replaces Leon’s Gun With A Banana & Knife With A Spoon
Leon S. Kennedy is quite the force to be reckoned with. Not only did he survive the disaster of Raccoon City, but he (as a one-man team) was considered good enough to get the job done when it came to saving the president’s daughter from violent, infected villagers and monstrous B.O.W.S.
Leon’s credibility as a powerful and capable government agent makes this particular mod that much more hilarious. Instead of Leon’s trustySR-09 R and combat knife, this mod replaces them with a half-peeled banana and a spoon. Imagine how embarrassing it is to be taken down by a simple soup ladle!
3Bowser Krauser
Replaces Major Krauser’s Model With Bowser
This mod was clearly meant to be, considering both the longtimeMarioantagonist and Major Krauser happen to have rhyming names.
This priceless mod replaces the big, bad Jack Krauser withMario’s mortal enemy, Bowser. Not only does Bowser appear in Krauser’s cutscenes of lecturing his former rookie pupil, but he also fights Leon in hand-to-hand combat as well. Strange enough, the two somehow bear quite a few similarities! It’s a perfect match, knowing that Krauser would have very well envied Bowser’s amazing power. Maybe instead of taking his chances with the Las Plagas, Krauser should have tried a mushroom or fire flower instead.
4Fancy Chickens
Gives Chickens Tiny Wigs
This is yet another very subtle mod but still sure to make for an amusing playthrough nonetheless. Throughout the game, Leon runs into a ton of chicken friends. They aren’t just hanging around in the village area, they also pop up again in Ramon’s castle and (as bizarre as it is) even near the laboratory buildings.
This mod equips all the chickens in the game with little wigs to make them look their best when they run into the famous government agent, Leon Kennedy. Even the chickens deserve tolook their best!
5Goofy Chainsaws
Gives Chainsaw Enemies Giant Googly Eyes
One of themore terrifying enemiesinRE4is the chainsaw villagers. These enemies wear a sack over their heads and can attack Leon, killing him in some of the most gruesome death animations. For any players who want to get over their fear of the menacing chainsaw villagers, this mod is the perfect fix.
This mod puts googly eyes on the chainsaw villagers' sacks right where their creepy bloodshot eyes would have been peeking through their masks. This makes these otherwise terrifying enemies a lot more approachable, and certainly much easier to deal with. Remember to aim for the eyes!
6Hey, It’s That Poochy

This mod is a must-have forMariofans who have followed the Yoshi series since the ’90s.Everyone’s favorite dogand Yoshi’s loyal buddy, Poochy, now has his chance to shine in the world ofRE.
The infamous “that dog” line (that is present in both the originalRE4and remake) was about a helpless, injured pup that Leon finds caught in a bear trap. After helping the dog out, Leon’s new canine friend makes a dramatic appearance during the boss fight with El Gigante to lend him a hand. This mod replaces the furry friend with the adorable Poochy, finally allowing him to show off his fierce side for a change.
7Moushley Graham
Places A Tiny Mouse Version Of Ashley On Leon’s Head
For whatever reason, one of the biggest memes to have come out of theRE4RwasMoushley Graham. Fans couldn’t stop themselves from drawing hilarious art of the president’s daughter, Ashley, as a helpless, tiny mouse that Leon is forced to babysit for the entire game.
This mod not only brings the Moushley meme to life, but it also serves as a nod to one of the most famous movie rodents,Ratatouille’s Remy and lets Moushley sit on top of Leon’s head to keep him company. It’s important to note that this mod is merely cosmetic and simply adds the Moushley model onto Leon’s head. This mod doesn’t actually turn Ashley’s model into a mouse (but is still fun nonetheless).
