DawntrailbringsFinal Fantasy 14players to Tural, the continent far to the west of Eorzea that has only been known as the New World up until now. This mysterious land promises high adventure and discovery as they explore fantastical places like Tuliyollal, the fabled city of gold. This diverse land holds many peoples, including the Mamool Ja players have seen since the originalFinal Fantasy 14. Tural takes heavy inspiration from South American cultures, and the expansion itself is being marketed as “the ultimate summer vacation.”
That said,Final Fantasy 14players should expect plenty of challenges to face inDawntrail. One of the core conflicts involves a conflict over who will take over Tuliyollal after its current leader. Players will help decide this contest over the rite of succession with the help of theScions and familiarFinal Fantasy 14characterslike the gleaner Erenville, though their allies may end up divided on how to solve this conundrum.
As they journey across Tural, players will encounter all sorts of cultures and peoples. Uroqpacha is home to a clan of giants and the diminutive and mercantile Pelupelu both, while Yak T’el is a center of population for both the Mamool Ja and the Hrothgar native to Tural. As always, plenty of fantastic trials, such as the legendary Valigarmanda, will await players inDawntrailas they raise their jobs to the new level cap of 100.
Players will also have two new jobs they can try, a melee DPS and a ranged caster. WhileFinal Fantasy 14has not revealed these jobs yet, the trailer features the Warrior of Light sporting a longsword and light armor, prompting many to expect a pirate-like swashbuckler class to be one of them. Yoshida also wore aTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesshirt, which could suggest the melee class will use Ninja gear, and the caster may be a Green Mage.
Dawntrailis currently planned to release in summer of 2024. Players can expect to see more information aboutDawntrailatFinal Fantasy 14’s next Fan Festivalin London on October 21 and 22.
Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
