Grinding in any game to acquire rare loot is a difficult and challenging task, though perhaps none so much as when playing a multiplayer title. MMORPGs likeFinal Fantasy 14are one example of online gaming titles that require commitment and focus from the entire group of players in order to succeed, especially when partaking in aFinal Fantasy 14raid.
Unfortunately, these fights don’t always end in success, and many don’t reward players with the expected loot if there’s only a chance of a drop. However, sometimes the fault lies with the player when they don’t get the reward they expected.

Such was the case inFinal Fantasy 14, as shared by user MLTBlackDragon on Reddit. The player shared a simple screenshot showing the results of theDragonsong’s Reprise Ultimate Raid, where players are tasked with facing off against an even stronger version of some ofHeavensward’s toughest foes. Doing so rewards players with an excellent piece of loot, the Dragonsong Token. However, that’s the exact drop the player missed out on.
As one can see in the screenshot, the problem is that the player’s inventory was full when the token was slated to be given to them. As a result, the token was lost, which is particularly heartbreaking when players consider that the tokens can be exchanged for some of thebest weapons inFinal Fantasy 14, and that they’re limited to one drop per week.
Some criticized the player, wondering how they were able to finish the fight without thinking of clearing at least some space in their inventory first. Inventory management often becomes an important part of RPGs, especially when battles have a tendency to overload the player’s inventory with random drops they may not want or even need. In any case, it was surely a mistake on the player’s part, and one that they’ll likely be very careful to avoid going forward.
Others defended the player and criticizedFinal Fantasy 14for the way that its drops work, instead. Other games, like fellow MMORPGWorld of Warcraft, ensure that any drops that are given to a player are shipped to a mailbox if the player doesn’t have space to receive it. This ensures that no matter what state the player’s inventory is in, they’ll get the loot they rightly deserve.
Final Fantasy 14has completely reshaped itselfinto a huge success after its original disastrous launch, and it’s managed to gain a significant number of players who used to call Azeroth home. However, there’s always room for further improvement, and this is one place whereFinal Fantasy 14could use some tweaking.
