Carrying the momentum of their recent releaseStreet Fighter 6, Capcom has wasted no time in bringing forth another IP for eager gamers to sink their teeth into. In a brand-new project, players are put in teams of five and thrown into war games against violent and deadly dinosaurs inExoprimal. Featuring a multitude of high-tech Exosuit options and weapons galore, there is something for everyone and more than one way to dispose of the game’s prehistoric threats.

Among the many abilities that players can unleash on dinosaur hordes inExoprimalis the rig attachments that are mounted on their backs. There are six that players can unlock and choose from, each serving a different purpose. Only one can be wielded at a time, but which is the best for surviving the dinosaur invasion?

6Drill Fist

The Drill Fist isthe last Rig that can be unlockedas players progress throughExoprimal, and is an effective tool in its own right. The third offense-heavy Rig in the game, this weapon will offer players a short but punchy melee attack with the potential to do some serious damage and set up the killing blow.

While it is a great offensive tool, it is limitedby its very short range, as well as the fact that the attack is quite lengthy. It is a great accessory for one-on-one encounters; however, given that the war games inExoprimalgenerally involve large quantities of targets, the Drill Fist is not the best option for general battle purposes.

5Catapult

In what could be considered the “Eject Button” inExoprimal, the Catapult Rig gives players a last-ditch effort to save their suits and their lives by quickly propelling them out of sticky situations. The Catapult enables players to perform a boost jump in the air, which will get them out of positions against hordes or particularly nasty dinos. This allows them to recuperate and reevaluate their strategy.

While the Catapult Rig is a handy device when players are getting overwhelmed, its lack of offensive and defensive capabilities make it one of the least effective Rigs. Whilea quick escape can make a real difference, it will only buy the player a small window of opportunity. The prospect of an effective escape will dependon whether there is higher ground nearby for players to retreat to.

4Cannon

The default rig that comes with every newExoprimalplayer, regardless of the Exosuit they choose, the Cannon Rig is the first of a few offensive attachments that can pack an extra punch when the dinosaur masses become overwhelming. It is a powerful laser positioned on the shoulder of the Exosuit, capable of directing a focused beam of energy at any dino in its cross-hairs.

The Cannon is a great introduction to Rigs inExoprimal; however, it does come with some limitations. The laser shot is relatively small and quick, so it is not particularly effective when dealing with a crowd. The agility of the target can also prove a significant challenge, as one misstep could result in players missing their shot and having to wait for the cooldown to be completed to try again.

3Aid

With the Aid Rig, players from the Assault and Tank Exosuit classes can play a small part in being asupport for themselves and their teammatesby giving them a location where they can heal and repair. The Aid Rig fires a projectile of energy that will produce a small circle that players can enter to restore health, which can be crucial when the dinosaur army grows in strength and number.

The Aid Rig fills in the gaps that Assault and Tank classes have in their inability to heal themselves or their teammates effectively. This Rig isunlikely to interest to Nimbus, Skywave, or Witchdoctor Exosuits, given their objective is primarily healing the team. However, it can be a welcome boost to the more aggressive suits. As the story progresses and the challenges increase, players will take any opportunity they can to restore some valuable HP.

2Shield

Just as the Aid Rig fills the gaps in non-Support classes, the Shield Rig achieves the same purpose for non-Tank classes. This Rig enables players to project a shield in front of them to provide temporary protection against their foes. One feature inExoprimalthat is particularly useful with shields is that players can still shoot their hunters through the projection to pick them off, while their enemies are trapped behind the wall.

The Shield is unlikely to be of use to the Tank class Exosuits, especially Roadblock and Krieger. However, it will provide valuable protection to Support and Assault classes. The biggest advantage of this Rig, and what makes it one of the best options to equip for a war game, is that it will buy the player some time toturn the tide of the battle in their favorby allowing them to effectively attack the threat ahead of them behind the safety of the shield.

1Blade

For those looking for an additional offensive punch to add to their Exosuit’s arsenal, look no further than the Blade Rig. This giant shuriken-type weapon, when used correctly, can incapacitate numerous hostiles, leaving them vulnerable to being attacked and disposed of. The weapon is effective thanks to its electromagnetic properties, which paralyze any enemies it comes into contact with.

The Blade is arguably the most effective Rig inExoprimaland is suitable for any class and Exosuit in the game. Whether it provides another source of valuable offense for the largely-passive support class or is just another tool in the powerful arsenal of the Assault and Tank classes, the Blade will be a welcome tool whenthe dinosaur hordes begin to gain the upper hand. However, the Blade Rig is ineffective against the big dinosaurs, so it is best kept for the sake of crowd control.
