A Quiet Place Part IIis now out in theaters. It is an exciting sequel to the original that gives a small glimpse of Day 1 of the alien invasion. But there was a topic introduced in the sequel that resembles another alien film, and the writers ofA Quiet Placeonce thought of making their movie connect to theCloverfielduniverse. The monster designs even look a little similar in the two franchises.A Quiet Place Part IIintroduced the idea that the monsters are weakened by water, much like they are inSigns. Do the aliens in these movies come from the same place?

So far, the aliens inA Quiet Placehave not shown any grand intelligence and actuallybehave more like droneswho are being controlled by a greater threat. The aliens do not kill humans and animals for food, but instead, they kill them to eliminate the source of sound. This is because of the aliens' super hearing abilities that are very sensitive to even the smallest of sounds. Sound may actually cause them harm, so they react by destroying whatever is making it.

It’s possible these aliens are working for a larger queen, likein James Cameron’sAliens, and are freeing their new world from all sounds so it can be safe for the queen. For the most part, these creatures are indestructible. They have armor so strong that even crash landing on Earth by a meteor could not kill them. But a high frequency in sound causes the armor to pull away from their bodies, revealing a way to kill the monsters. Regan’s hearing aid can be turned up all the way, causing the aliens to be able to hear sounds even louder, which puts them in some kind of pain.

As it turns out, this is not the only way the aliens can be killed. Apparently, these aliens are incapable of swimming. It is not clear if water itself kills them, or if their armored bodies are too heavy and it causes them to sink. Either way, this seems oddly similar toM. Night Shyamalan’s movieSignswhere the aliens are allergic to water and it actually burns their skin. It doesn’t seem likely that these two species of aliens are identical, but it’s possible they come from the same planet or share some genetic coding. The aliens inSignswere leaving their failing home planet in order to scavenge Earth for supplies.

The creatures inA Quiet Placemay have been abandoning the same planet, but just took longer to arrive on Earth since they are not as intelligent as the ones inSigns. Or maybe, they only arrived on Earth after their own planet blew up, and they rode the pieces of rock as they hurtled towards Earth. M. Night Shyamalan’s aliens had the ability to leave their home planet and travel to Earth very quickly, whereas the aliens in John Krasinski’s films had to wait for nature to help them get off their planet. It’s also interesting how both Krasinski and Shyamalan chose to show the alien invasion on a small scale through one singular family.

Not only do the aliens inA Quiet Placeact similar to the ones inSigns, but they look similar to another alien from a different movie. There is a giant creature inCloverfieldthat looks very similar to the design in Krasinski’s films. Could a large creature like this be who the aliens inA Quiet Placeare serving? The monster inCloverfieldwas supposedly awoken from a piece of satellite that crashed into the ocean. It emerged from the water, and attacked everyone. Could the monster have been disturbed by the loud sound, just like how Krasinski’s monsters would be?

InThe Cloverfield Paradox, a team of scientists go into space to try and save Earth from a global energy crisis. However, they end up in a parallel world and open up portals to other universes. If the monsters from these three movies are not from the same planet, perhaps they still tie in together based on how they got to Earth. AlthoughThe Cloverfield Paradoxisn’t that great of a movie, the events in that movie could have caused the aliens fromCloverfield,A Quiet Place, andSignsto all end up in the same place through the opening of portals.

Although the writers forA Quiet Placesaid they once pitched their idea as aCloverfieldtie-in, the executives at Paramount saw it as its own standalone movie, which excited the writers. There have been no confirmations about a connection between the three movies yet, but it certainly would be fun to have a movie spin-off (or perhaps a series) in which the different species of aliens are all escaping their home planet and coming to earth.
