In the enchanting world ofDisney Dreamlight Valley, players can welcomeToy Story’s beloved Space Ranger, Buzz Lightyear, to the valley after an adventure in the Toy Story Realm. Known for his brave and noble spirit, Buzz is trying to find his place in Dreamlight Valley and decides that the protective services ofStar Commandwould be of great benefit to the Valley’s residents.
As the player increases their bond through sharing gifts, holding daily conversations, and performing daily tasks with the character in tow, their friendship level with that character will increase, unlocking new quests. “A Space Ranger Recruit” is one such quest, and here’s everything players need to know to complete this quest inDisney Dreamlight Valley.

How to Start the Quest “A Space Ranger Recruit”
Upon completing the quest, “A Secret Mission in Uncharted Space,” Buzz Lightyear relocates to Dreamlight Valley, and the player can place his home, Buzz’s RV, anywhere they’d like. Finishing the quest also triggers a new quest to unlock Woody fromToy Storyand move him in too, called “You’re My Favorite Deputy.” Completing Buzz’s first quest will increase the player’s friendship level with Buzz Lightyear to Level 2. This level-up unlocks another quest, “A Space Ranger Recruit,” which the player can immediately accept after speaking with Buzz.
How to Complete the Quest “A Space Ranger Recruit”
In “A Space Ranger Recruit,” the player suggests that Buzz Lightyear establish a Star Command Outpost in Dreamlight Valley. This outpost allows the continuation of his Space Ranger duties while, hopefully, helping him discover his purpose in the Valley. Buzz Lightyear wholeheartedly agrees and recruits the player as a Star Command cadet while announcing they will utilize his RV as their command center.
Construct the Space Ranger Ship
Buzz Lightyear is planning a robust Star Command setup in Dreamlight Valley and decides they will need to assemble an appropriate transport fleet. Buzz entrusts the player with the responsibility of constructing aSpace Ranger Ship. To craft this magnificent, albeit small, starship, the player needs to collect the following materials:
3 Glass
15 Sand
Sand can be foraged by digging in the Dazzle Beach biome.
3 Coal Ore
Coal Ore can be mined from any mineral vein in Dreamlight Valley. Can be purchased fromKristoff’s Stallonce upgraded.
10 Hardwood

Hardwood can be foraged in the Forest of Valor, Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, or Frosted Heights biomes.
5 Iron Ingots
25 Iron Ore
Iron Orecan be mined from any mineral vein in Dreamlight Valley.
5 Coal Ore
Coal Ore can be mined from any mineral vein in Dreamlight Valley. Can be purchased from Kristoff’s Stall once upgraded.
Place the Space Ranger Ship by Buzz’s RV
Once the player has crafted the Space Ranger Ship, they should head back to Buzz, who instructs the placement of the newly minted ship near Star Command Headquarters, akaBuzz’s RV. To place the Space Ranger Ship, the player shouldopen the Furniture menu, where they’ll see a category at the top featuring Buzz Lightyear’s portrait.
Click on his portrait, and the Space Ranger Ship will be available in this new menu, ready for placement near his RV. Place the ship anywhere close enough to the RV to trigger completion of this quest objective, then return to Buzz.

Obtain the Space Ranger Uniform
WithStar Command Headquartersnow established, Buzz Lightyear informs the player that they will need aSpace Ranger Uniform, signifying the player’s recent enlistment as a Star Command cadet. He directs the player to speak with Scrooge McDuck at his store. Upon speaking withScrooge McDuck, he reveals that although no Space Ranger Uniform is in stock, he can manufacture one if provided with specific materials. Scrooge requests the following materials to craft the Space Ranger Uniform:
15 Fiber
3 Seaweed
Seaweed can be obtained by fishing in open water in any biome.
15 Softwood
Softwood can be foraged in the Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, Forest of Valor, and Glade of Trust biomes.
Blue Falling Penstemoncan be gathered in the Plaza.
10 Coal Ore
Blueberry can be foraged from bushes in Forest of Valor.
1 Empty Vial
Empty Vial is crafted using 3 Glass each, which is crafted from 5 Sand and 1 Coal Ore.Sandis obtained by digging in Dazzle Beach.
Topaz can be found by mining rock nodes in the Plaza.

Once the player has obtained the necessary materials, they need to return to Scrooge’s store and speak with him to hand over the items. Scrooge McDuck then crafts an unconventional-looking Space Ranger Uniform for the player.
Equip the Space Ranger Uniform and Return to Buzz
The player then needs to equip both pieces, theSpace Ranger Helmetand theSpace Ranger Wings, which are easily found in the Requests category at the top ofthe Wardrobe menu. Once they’re geared up and ready to go, the player should return to Buzz Lightyear and conclude the quest “A Space Ranger Recruit.”
