The Proving Grounds Nightfall has returned in its Grandmaster format for another season inDestiny 2. This time around, a new element and subclass have been introduced to the game with the arrival of the Lightfall DLC, Strand, and it’s safe to say Strand has made a massive impact on the game thus far. However, some players need help completing this strike efficiently on Grandmaster difficulty. ThisDestiny 2guide will help players easily determine the best loadout and strategies for completing each section of the Proving Grounds Grandmaster Nightfall strike.

Best Destiny 2 Builds to Use in Proving Grounds GM Nightfall in Season 20
First, players must determine what loadouts/setups they’ll use to beat this activity. Starting with Warlocks, it’s no secret thata Solar buildrevolving around the Well of Radiance Super and Starfire Protocol Exotic chest piece will be the best choice here. Well of Radiance continues to be far and away the best super in the game for PvE activities, as it grants players near complete immunity to all incoming damage from enemies while also giving a damage buff to their weapons. On top of that, when using Starfire Protocol, if the user were to get a bunch of kills using their Fusion Grenades, the Warlock who just used their super will have it back almost immediately. It is highly recommended to run at least one, if not two, Warlocks using this setup for maximum safety and efficiency.
Hunters are up next. Unfortunately for them,Hunters typicallyget the short end of the stick when it comes to meaningful builds for Grandmaster Nightfalls. Unlike the other classes, they don’t have a lot of top-tier builds to work with. That said, the one setup they do have over the other two is a Void build revolving around the Exotic leg piece, Orpheus Rigs, which will generate more super energy for the Hunter when using Tether. On top of that, the ability to make the player and their teammates invisible is invaluable in tight situations. Having at least one would be a good idea, but it is optional.

Last but not least are Titans. There are multiple builds a Titan can choose from that would be great for a Grandmaster Nightfall. However, for Proving Grounds in particular, the best choice here will be a Strand build utilizing the new Exotic legs, Abeyant Leap. Using their class build will send out three waves of Strand that will suspend any enemies in their path. Suspend is far and away one of the best abilities the game has ever seen, and Titans can utilize it to the maximum, unlike the other classes.
Overall, the “ideal” team setup would be two Starfire Warlocks and one Abeyant Leap Titan to run through this strike swiftly.

How to Beat Proving Grounds GM Nightfall in Season 17 - Opening Area
Moving onto the strike itself, the activity can be broken down into three main sections; the opening area, the tank room, and the boss room. Starting with the opening area, there are multiple champions to deal with and, eventually, a mini-boss. The strategy here is to go slow and take each and every out, one by one. There’s no rush to complete this section, and each enemy should be coordinated as a group, especially the champions. The mini-boss is no different. When it spawns, use the cover in the surrounding area to slowly chip at its health until it eventually falls, then proceed into the tank room.
How to Beat Proving Grounds GM Nightfall in Season 20 - Tank Room
It’s no secret that the tank room has proven time and time again to be the most challenging portion of the strike and for a good reason. With seemingly never-ending enemies, interceptors on each side of the room that one-shot players no matter the range, and then two tanks to deal with. The problem for many players is they let these factors overwhelm them, causing them to make mistakes, get killed, and be forced to restart, when there is a much easier way of handling the situation.

When entering the room, players should immediately go to either the left or right sides of the arena and use a Well of Radiance if available. This will allow the team to survive all incoming damage from the enemies while enabling them to pick them off quickly. First and foremost, all three Guardians should try to destroy the interceptors on their given side as fast as possible, as they are the biggest threat to the team. Shooting the Psion controlling the interceptor will be ideal as well. After destroying the interceptor, proceed to defeat any remaining enemies in the room, including the champions.
Another wave of enemies and the two tanks will appear when they are defeated. Players should traverse to the bottom middle area and use another Well of Radiance if available. Sitting in this section will prevent the tanks from shooting the team, allowing each player to pick off enemies in the area quickly. Once it’s clear, the team should move to the back section of the room where they entered and destroy the tanks. Scout Rifles, Sniper Rifles,or LMGswill be the best weapons to use when damaging the tanks. After destroying both tanks, the final wall for the team to overcome is the boss room.

How to Beat Proving Grounds GM Nightfall in Season 20 - Boss Room
When done correctly, the boss room is less of a dreadful experience than the tank room. The most crucial factor in this fight is to keep some distance from the boss but not sit in the back of the room. The boss’s main gimmick is the ability to send a barrage of seeking fireballs at the team that will one-shot them (or leave them crippled). They’re scary at first but are very easy to destroy with proper coordination. Players should use the hill-like terrain to avoid the incoming void blasts from the boss, which will soar over their heads if positioned correctly.

After enough damage is dealt with, the boss will put up a barrier, making him immune to all damage unless the generator to his barrier is destroyed. This can be foreseen by the line in the boss’s health bar, otherwise known as “health gates,” indicating when an event will begin when the boss’s health reaches that given point. Right before the boss puts up its barrier, the team should gather in the middle section of the room, damage the boss, and immediately destroy the generator before the boss sends barrage after barrage of fireballs at the team. This will significantly make the fight both shorter and easier to manage. However, players should remember that when the boss puts up a shield, two Unstoppable champions will spawn. The team should dispose of them after the generator is destroyed to avoid further distractions from the boss.
After that, it’s simply rinse and repeat when the boss’s health reaches the second gate. The team should gather on the elevated platform in the back when the generator appears and destroy it as soon as possible; otherwise, the boss will send an abundance of fireballs their way. Again, two Unstoppable champions will spawn when the shield goes up. Dispose of them after the generator is gone, and all that’s left to finish the boss for good.
