Guardians can earn some decent rewards via the new fishing minigame introduced inDestiny 2’s latest Season of the Deep, though fans have already offered a number of creative suggestions that could improve the mechanic since the latest season dropped. Fans ofDestiny 2can collect a wide variety of unique fish across several destinations throughout the Solar System, some of which can be traded in for legendary loot alongside other goodies.
As the 21st season forDestiny 2and the game’s second season of 2023, Season of the Deep offers plenty of new adventures and activities for players to embark on. With the moon known as Titan finally returned to the orbit of Saturn, fans can once again plunge into the depths of the moon’s methane seas in search of the new Taken-themed seasonal weapons and armor sets. For players looking for a more relaxed experience, the new fishing mechanic allows fans to reel in some good loot as well. Thoughfishing inDestiny 2works mostly the same way it does in other games, many fans have suggested a few tweaks which could make the experience more consistent, with one fan named westbrook___ making a post that calls for changes to the game’s Focused Fishing perk. The Focused Fishing perk gradually fills up as a player or their allies reel in fish of legendary or exotic rarity, and while a fuller Focused Fishing bar does sweeten the pond a bit in terms of rewards, it can be hard to fully take advantage of the perk when fishing alone. Players have suggested that uncommon and rare fish should also contribute towards filling the bar, making the appearance of rarer fish a little more likely for lonesome fishermen.
This isn’t the only bit of feedback offered by players with regard to the fishing mechanic, as the community currently has a fewgripes with the current state of this minigame inDestiny 2. One of the most glaring issues with fishing is that each pond will only hang around for a limited time, disappearing when a nearby public event starts and temporarily forcing Guardians to put their fishing rods down as a result. This also causes the Focused Fishing bar to reset, meaning that players only have a short time to hook some rare fish.
With a number of bugs affecting certain exotics, finishers, andDestiny 2’s newest dungeon activity, it’s safe to say that Season 21’s launch hasn’t been as smooth as some players would like. That said though, Season of the Deep has introduced a wealth of new content, and players only have more to look forward to as the season progresses.
Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
