Arkane Studios may be working on aDeathloopfollow-up of some sort, according to sources. Known for its immersive sim offerings such asDishonoredandPrey, Arkane is known to have at least one all-new game,Redfall, currently in active development. Yet, it would seem that the company doesn’t have all of its eggs in one particular basket after all.
Being one of the more notable releases of 2021,Deathloophas enjoyed a fair bit of attention for its impressive world-building and emblematic Arkane gameplay. While the studio did release a few extra content updates over the course of 2022, it didn’t seem like there was anything else directly relating to the IP in active development.

After Arkane Studios revealed thatDeathlooptakes place in theDishonoreduniverse, which had been a long-standing fan theory up until then, most fans expected that there wasn’t much else to say about the game. Now, however, voice actors Jason Kelley and Ozioma Akagha, voicing Colt and Julianna, respectively, have thrown a wrench into this idea. Speaking in an interview with Streamily, Kelley admitted that both of them are still under contract with Arkane, and that they are working on something related toDeathloop. While the nature of this project is currently unknown, it’s almost certainly an expansion pack or a sequel to the main story.
It’s worth pointing out, too, that Arkane Studios often releases standalone expansion packs for their flagship titles.2017’sDeath of the Outsiderwas a standaloneDishonored 2DLC that provided a direct continuation to the main narrative, though featuring a different protagonist, story, and gameplay elements. It’s possible that the mysteriousDeathloopproject is something of the type, then, fulfilling the precedent that had been underlined withPrey’sMooncrashDLC, too.
Now that it’s been cleared uphowDishonoredandDeathloop’s timelines match up, it’s curious to note that the Goldenloop update introduced a huge array of direct references to the Outsider and other assorted bits ofDishonoredlore. Players can find these bits and pieces strewn acrossDeathloop’s Blackreef sandbox, and it’s possible that the upcoming release will double down on these narrative elements once it’s out.
Now thatRedfallhas potentially been internally delayed, Arkane Studios could be looking at ways to stay in the limelight with alternative projects, and simply announcing a newDeathloopexperience may get people talking once more. Whatever the case may be, Kelley and Akagha are clearly working with Arkane on something, so fans ofDishonoredandDeathloopmay have much to look forward to in the future.
Deathloopis available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
