Dead Spaceis interesting for many reasons, ranging from unforgettable settings like the USG Ishimura to the grotesque Necromorphs that are constantly moving throughout vents and plotting their attack. The weapons feel different from those in other horror games due to their engineering connection, as does the main protagonist of the series. With his relatable motivation, interesting lore tying him to Unitology, and a perfect actor choice with Gunner Wright, there is plenty to love aboutIsaac Clarke.

However, even with his standout grunts and the occasional action hero line making him a fan favorite, few would expect Isaac Clarke of all characters to travel the video game industry and show up everywhere. That is exactly what he has done, though, making well over a dozens cameos in games vastly different from his own. Few protagonists come close to Isaac’s number of cameo appearances, and these crossovers have helped give him a star power he would not have otherwise. Whether they come in the form of subtle marketing forDead Spaceor unofficial homages, it is worth taking a look at Isaac’s lengthy resume of non-canon game appearances.

Isaac Clarke’s Many, Many Video Game Cameos

As spotlighted by the YouTuber GodzillaMendoza across two different videos, Isaac Clarke has appeared in a shocking amount of video games. While the most recent of these were a high profile appearance as a skin inFortniteand a nod to his look in thefailed live service projectKnockout City, this is simply the continuation of a long-running trend. Ever sinceDead Spacereleased, EA has been including references to the engineer that survived the USG Ishimura, with some of the appearances being truly strange.

Oddly enough, theNecromorph-slaying Isaac Clarke has appeared in his fair share of family friendly video game content. Isaac Clarke’s costume appeared in twoSimsspin-offs, those beingMySims AgentsandMySims Sky Heroes. Alongside countless community created outfits, his suit was turned into an officialMinecraftskin by Mojang. He’s even had his armor carried over to multipleLittleBigPlanetgames, directly contrasting with the cute tone of the franchise. If that was not enough, a poster of Isaac is seen inThe Simpsons Game, with the survivor drawn in the style of Matt Groening’s hit animated series.

Even stranger is the fact that Issac Clarke is apparently an experienced athlete. When not fighting aliens and dealing with Markers, Isaac can be found pulling off tricks inSkate 3or shooting hoops inNBA Jam 3. He even makes it intoTiger Woods PGA Tour 10for some reason, though gamers should be warned that he is a pain to unlock, something that GodzillaMendoza stressed in his original video about the cameos.

Isaac Clarke is no stranger to the shooter scene as well as fantasy games, as he has appeared in both genres over the years. Some masks inspired by Isaac could be found in theArmy of Twoseries, while tributes to the character appeared inBattlefield HardlineandDuke Nukem Forever. He also inspired a skin inBattlefield Heroesalongside hisDead Space 3partner Carver, with a reference appearing in the indie titleViscera Cleanup Detail. As for fantasy titles, a skin based on Isaac’s iconic Advanced Suit fromDead Space 2was usable inDragon Age 2, while his classic look can be unlocked in one version of the cult classicDante’s Inferno.

Rounding out the long list of Isaac Clarke appearances are his fighting game and second life cameos. Not only was Isaac Clarke a playable character in theSuper Smash Bros.clonePlayStation All-Stars, a game many are still hoping will receive a sequel, but players could become him in the now-dormant second life experiencePlayStation Home. Gamers could dress their Xbox avatars up as Isaac Clarke too, and he has shown up in his share of indie projects. This ensures that no matter where they look, fans of all video game genres will often be reminded of the character. With theDead Space Remakebeing a success, this trend might just continue on for years to come.
