The newDead Spaceis more like a remix of ideas than a remake from the ground up. It plays with the building blocks that made the original an instant classic among survival horror fans. There isn’t a lot added orchanged to the storybesides the idea that Isaac can talk now, which did happen in the sequels already.

There was also an alternate ending added which probably won’t be canon. If the developers do get the green light to make a sequel then maybe they will get wilder and explore this other ending to switch up the story. Whatever direction they go, hopefully, theseDead Spacequestions will be answered.
There will be spoilers.
7Why Not Unlock The Entire Ship For Isaac?
Hammond and Kendrahave command over a good portion of Isaac throughout theDead Spaceremake. They order him to take on various projects from fixing the tram system to shooting down asteroids. With every new mission they gave him, they also unlocked new paths via security clearances.
Why didn’t they give Isaac unlimited security? Giving players full access to the ship would presumably ruin the idea of the game, which makes sense why access was restricted. It doesn’t add up in the context of the world though.

6Where Did Dr. Kyne Go After Meeting Isaac For The First Time?
Dr. Kyne is one of the surviving doctors aboardthe USG Ishimurathat somehow survived the rush of Necromorphs. He convinces Isaac to meet him in the private chambers after a video call. After they meet face to face, albeit through a glass window, Isaac agrees to help the good doctor with his idea to move the Marker.

The weird thing about this scene is that Dr. Kyne walks into the adjacent room and players can follow closely behind. That room only has one entrance which also serves as the exit but Dr. Kyne is nowhere to be found. Do the higher-ups have secret doors built into their rooms or was this an oversight from the developers?
5Why Was Kendra Sent In Alone?
There are manytwists on twistsin theDead Spaceremake, but one of the biggest was that Kendra was a spy. She tries to convince Isaac that something shady was going on with Hammond but that was all a deflection tactic. She was sent in to get the Marker to cover up Earth’s little secret.
If the government knew the USG Ishimura was compromised with Necromorphs then why was only one agent sent in? It seems like a big job for Kendra to handle alone even if she was able to manipulate her team.

4How Was Mercer Getting Around?
If Dr. Kyne has secret doors then surely Dr. Mercer does as well. That’s the only possible explanation as to how he is able to get around the USG Ishimura without getting attacked by Necromorphs. This would explain why Isaac and the others don’t see Dr. Merceruntil later chaptersof the game as well.
Even though he respects the alien lifeforms, Dr. Mercer can’t control them any more than Isaac can. This means he has to have killed some to survive. On a related note, is he still alive? The last players see, he gets dragged away by a tentacle but Dr. Mercer isn’t shown on camera being exploded into a puddle of blood, unlike Kendra.

3Why Did Kendra Kill Kyne When She Did?
Kendra’s tactics are not that great if players really think about it. One of her weirder decisions was when she shoots Dr. Kyne toward the end of the game. She waits until he is off the escape ship and Isaac is within eye range before she shoots him.
After getting the escape shuttle with the Marker loaded up, why didn’t she simply kill Dr. Kyne on the ship? Why expose herself to Isaac when she knows it’s possible he could sabotage her, which he does via a tractor beam?

2Is Anyone Else Still Alive?
When Isaac and the others land on the USG Ishimura, it seems like there are no survivors. How could there be withall of those Necromorphsrunning around? Eventually, Isaac is introduced to several characters including the aforementioned Dr. Mercer and Dr. Kyne.

He also meets Dr. Cross and Jacob Temple. Except for Dr. Mercer, those characters are confirmed to be dead. Is it possible that there were other survivors aboard the ship that they didn’t meet? Maybe they escaped before Isaac got to the ship, creating possible ways for EA to make a spinoff.
The biggest question on everyone’s mind after finishing the remake is what’s next for the franchise. Should EA remake the trilogy or the entire series including the light-gun gameDead Space: Extraction? Should they make a prequel set in that time period perhaps following the movieDead Space: Downfall? It would be interesting to see a more traditionalsurvival horror gameon the USG Ishimura and on Aegis 7 set before the original.

Or, the final option, should they make a new game and continue the series? This remake is for sure a success critically for them, meaning a remake of the second game is probably already on the way. It seems logical but it is hard to say what EA is thinking sometimes.
TheDead Spaceremake was released on June 16, 2025, and is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
