With James Gunn taking command of theDCEU, things are looking promising for fans ofDC Comics. However, the news has broken that Henry Cavill will no longer be portrayingSupermandespite his cameo in latest the entry to the franchise Black Adam. Fans are left speculating who is next to don the red cape and pants and bring life to the character everyone knows and loves.

A newSupermanmovie is on its way and the story may take inspiration from some of the most popular Man of Steel stories such asSuperman: BirthrightorThe Death of Superman. Some stories should go nowhere near the big screen, featuring awful iterations of the character and bizarre plot points.DCEUand James Gunn take note.
10Superman: At Earth’s End
Set in a post-apocalyptic future rampant with mutants,Superman: At Earth’s Endfollows a white hair and beardedSupermanas he attempts to restore peace in the world and prevent Gotham City from being ‘cleansed’ by a nuclear bomb. Upon arriving at Gotham the Santa Clause-looking Clark finds out that the city is being ruled by twin clones of Adolf Hitler.
An absolutely bizarre story that should remain in the pages of a comic, fans want a true iteration ofSupermanand this tale should not be even thought about to be considered by theDCEU.Throughout of the versions of Superman throughout the Elseworlds stories, this one takes the cake as one of the weirdest.
9Superman: Red Son
Although this Elseworlds story is one of the most famous and best Superman books to date, spawning an animated movie and several bits of merchandise with Superman costume.Superman: Red Sonwill be hard to adapt to the big screen because of real-world events.

In this story instead of a crash landing on a simple farm in Kansas,Supermanlands in Soviet Russia and gets converted into a weapon of mass destruction by the Russian government. Although aDCEUstory would be simply amazing around this concept, it just won’t be adapted any time soon.
8Kingdom Come
Kingdom Comeis famed for its beautiful arc and interesting story, however, the subject is perhaps a bit too on the darker side, especially for thelight-hearted nature that James Gunn takes with his movies and TV shows.
The story is again set in the future and the premise isSupermanand other famous characters are retired due to the public preferring heroes that have no qualms with killing and doing what they need to do to protect the world. The story touches on ethics and morality and what is right and wrong. A bit deep for many fans andSupermanshould always be portrayed as the beacon of hope he represents, especially when he is going to be rebooted in the DCEU.
7Superman: Earth One
The infamous story,Superman: Earth One, is a poor example of the character. Originally published in 2010 this series was meant to beDC’s take on Marvel’s Ultimate Universe with a darker and edgier take on their characters. This was just a big swing and miss-forSuperman.

The Man of Steel is presented as moody, angsty and morally ambiguous, a far cry from what fans know and love about the character. If the DCEU want to takeSupermanin a new direction with their new movie, this is not the direction to follow.
6Superman: American Alien
Another dark version of the character, this story is a retelling of the classicSupermanstory with a twist, the story focuses more on Clark Kent’s emotional development as he learns to use his powers for good, showing the mistakes he makes along the way.
The dark cover of a young Clark Kent with his glowing eyes has very much 2019Brightburnvibes,the story nowhere near goes as evil as that movie does. It does portray an angry young Clark who has no control over his new powers developing,Supermanshould be a beacon of hope and have a lighter note to his original story.
5Superman: Grounded
The premise of this story is thatSupermanis feeling out of touch with the people of Earth so begins a walk across the United States to help bring him back down to Earth with the people he has sworn to protect. This is just a really boring concept for aSupermanstory, and it would not translate well to cinema.

Fans want to see Clark Kent ripping off his glasses and flying to stop a monster from destroying Metropolis and not walking from Kansas to Colorado to speak to learn what Joe and Brenda are getting up to on the weekend.
4H’EL On Earth
The New 52 line of comics brought some interesting stories, a lot of which were not well received in the reboot of continuity. H’El On Earth introduces a new survivor of Krypton, how many are there?
H’el plots to turn Earth into New Krypton, and it is up toSupermanto put a stop to it. This concept has just been done to death, and fans were already sick of this even back in 2012. This was actually the same plot ofMan of Steelthat came out in the same year, giving this story even more reason to be hated. The DCEU needs to include a new take on the character, and also bring him back to his roots, but it doesseem that James Gunn is taking what fans want into consideration.
3Superman: Godfall
Set in the bottle city of Kandor,Superman: Godfallhas a poor plot and costume, although it looks cool, it appears that this story is about some sort of evilSuperman, but he is not in this instance.

Supes has amnesia in this tale, the story features no iconic villains, instead a new foe who is an alien hypnotist hell-bent on making Superman love her. A boring tale that shouldn’t be considered as aSupermancharacter arc in theDCEUas the story is just nothing and there is much better source material out there.
2Superman/Wonder Woman: Who Gods Destroy
The art in this story is just horrific, this reason alone should be enough to put the DCEU higher-ups into never considering turning this storyline into a movie. This story takes place in an alternate world where the Nazis won WWII thanks to the help of the Amazon gods. In the modern day, Superman fights to stop this with help of Lois Lane who becomes Wonder Woman in this story.
It just gets weirder as Superman gets transformed into a mullet-donning Centaur and then into a woman. Bizarre. The DCEU should stay well away from this one. What was with DC and being obsessed with Nazis? If the DCEU want to makesuccessful stories moving forward,then staying clear of Nazis would be the best thing to do.
Yes, this really happened, in 1979 fans discovered what would happen if the Man of Steel took on one of the greatest boxers to ever live. The real question is why did this happen, the comic reasonis that an alien named Rat’Larcomes to Earth to take on its strongest champion. BothSupermanand Ali put their names into the hat, but the alien makes them fight one another to decide who is the strongest.
But why was this story made? No one knows, but fans know this story should not be integrated into the DCEU. Even if this would be entertaining, it would just be far too bizarre.
