Summary
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertywill allow players to purchase Iconic weapons, with CD Projekt Red sneaking that feature reveal into the game’s latest patch. This tidbit of information about the upcoming expansion is just the tip of the content iceberg included in the massive2.0 update forCyberpunk 2077, which rolled out on September 21.
While CDPR’s hit RPG is filled to the brim with all kinds of armaments, its vast arsenal is headlined by Iconic weapons, which stand out from the rest thanks to their distinct models that many players prefer to randomly generated loot. And though someIconic weapons inCyberpunk 2077are fairly difficult to miss due to being part of the main quest, not all make for easy finds, especially since there’s usually but a single opportunity to grab each of these handcrafted items per a single playthrough.

However, the game’s upcoming DLC will lift that limitation by allowing players to (re)purchase all Iconic weapons from “a black market vendor” in Dogtown, the new location that serves as the setting ofCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. That’s according to a loading screen tip that appeared in the 2.0 version of the game, as spotted by Reddit user glencoe2000. The indefinite reference to “a” vendor implies that this valuable service won’t be provided by a single merchant, but a multiple thereof.
The feature itself is also consistent withthe lore ofCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’sDogtown, which states that this desolate neighborhood is the go-to place for procuring all sorts of armaments that are difficult or impossible to find anywhere else in Night City. The ability to buy missed Iconics—or repurchase salvaged ones—should be a real treat for gun enthusiasts, many of whom previously had to resort to using guides in order to complete their collections of unique armaments. For reference, there are currently 48 Iconic weapons inCyberpunk 2077, with the upcoming expansion being set to add many more to that unique-looking pile.
Although this particular feature will require buying Phantom Liberty, that paywall is unlikely to agitate too many fans. After all, theCyberpunk 20772.0 update just introduced dozens of tweaksand quality-of-life improvements to the game, on top of revamping its police system and perk trees, among many other changes. With CDPR thus delivering a massively overhauled gameplay experience free of charge, most players likely won’t be too bothered by the requirement to shell out $29.99 for the luxury of easily filling in their Iconic weapon collections, which comes with an added bonus of a 10-to-15-hour spy thriller starring Idris Elba.
