Right now, all fans really know regardingCyberpunk 2077’s plans for 2022 are the release of a big patch and the PS5/Xbox Series X platform launch sometime early this year. It’s also known that moreCyberpunk 2077free DLC and premium expansionsare in the works, but many details regarding those are wrapped in shadows too. Now, a new rumor has appeared online claiming to have inside knowledge on this information.
The thing to keep in mind, should someone cross this rumor (or anyCyberpunk 2077rumor, or otherwise, for that matter), is that they often live and die by their source. The source for this particular rumor is untrustworthy as they come, first originating on 4chan before circulating to other websites like Reddit. Some of it sounds plausible, but some of it has been said before. Ergo, it seems like guesswork.

According to this rumor, the next-gen and patch 1.5 is being treated as a soft relaunch of the game, announced asCyberpunk 2077: Samurai Edition. Plans are allegedly to reveal this, as well as the first expansion, in February. This patch will include free DLC, tons of small tweaks like more communication withCyberpunk 2077companions Judyand Panam, and a ton of features – Barbershops, a garage, improved AI, transmog, loot balances, and a new UI.
This rumor also suggests that the firstCyberpunk 2077expansion takes place in Pacifica, in an area called the Combat Zone. It is being fought over by two new gangs: a violent clown gang known as the Bozos and a gang called Slaughterhouse, which is composed of “violent psychopath fascists.” Other details in the leak include aCyberpunk 2077Gwent-like mini-game, supposed details on theCyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners anime, and plans for another expansion—only if the first proves to be successful.
Beyond the fishy source of this rumor though,Cyberpunk 2077fans should be aware that Global PR Director Radek Grabowski for CD Projekt Red told Forbes that this leak, or thing as he put it, “does not add up.” Grabowski didn’t go on, meaning what parts didn’t add up isn’t explained, whether the whole thing is untrue, or what details about this leak are erroneous. Either way, between the source and Grabowski’s comment, the best thing fans can do when coming across this rumor is to accept it as a baseless rumor, and nothing more.
Of course, that doesn’t mean nothing is on the horizon forCyberpunk 2077. Fans will just have to wait and see what 2022 holds for the RPG.
Cyberpunk 2077is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
