According to the post, The Haunting will start on October 19, then it will continue through Halloween to November 2. The post doesn’t provide too many details on the event itself, but it does provide some foreboding hints that The Haunting will center around a horror movie theme this year. The Haunting will be available forCall of Dutyplayers to enjoy in bothWarzoneandCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwhen it comes out.
The post does state that players should check back on the mainCall of Dutyblog on October 18 for more information on the event. However, before The Haunting was officially announced there were someleaks about the Halloween event inCall of Duty: Warzonereleased online. The leaks got the name wrong, however, they did suggest that the Halloween event for 2021 will be leaning in a cult-classic horror film direction this year.
Also, the leaks stated that the Halloween event would add the iconic horror movie villain Ghostface from theScreamfranchise as an operator in the game. Other leaks suggested that the event will have asecond operator named “Donnie"who fans speculated is referring to the eerie bunny figure Frank from the cult-classic filmDonnie Darko.
None of the information has been confirmed by the developers, but the possibility for cult-classic horror characters showing up is there. The post clearly hints that the event will have something to do with horror films, though whether any particular ones or just the genre itself remains to be seen. The previousHalloween event “The Haunting of Verdansk"in 2020 featured the horror characters Jigsaw from theSawfranchise and Leatherface fromThe Texas Chainsaw Massacreas operators in the game. The Haunting could do something similar this October inWarzoneandBlack Ops Cold War.
