Bungie is changing up quite a lot of things forDestiny 2’sWitch QueenDLC, but dedicated players will remember that the game will also be hosting its Season 16 content alongside the expansion. Developer blogs have, so far, been showing how the game’s meta might change with the new season, with the latest reveal being that of two “new” weapons being added to the Nightfall loot pool.

Nightfalls are essentially hard-mode Strikes inDestiny 2, and adding new loot to the playlist has been key in keeping players happy. With several available difficulty modifiers, and the opportunity to earn endgame-tier loot from the highest difficulty modes, as well as one of the most distinctive player titles like Conqueror, Nightfalls are the go-to endgame activity for many, which adds to their popularity.

Historically, Bungie has added two new weapons to the Nightfall loot pool every season, with the majority of them being returning armaments fromDestiny 1, such as Shadow Price and Hung Jury SR1. Season 16 will be the first time thatBungie is reissuing oldDestiny 2lootfrom the game’s oldest content, featuring the Duty Bound auto rifle and the Silicon Neuroma sniper rifle.

Curiously, both of these weapons were tied to old Strikes in the first place. Duty Bound used to drop exclusively from Savathûn’s Song on Titan, while Silicon Neuroma dropped from the Pyramidion on Io. Nightfalls were the best way to target-farm these weapons back inDestiny 2’s first year, too, so veteran players may be excited to rediscover their old favorites withboosted Power Levels inWitch Queen.

Duty Bound and Silicon Neuroma were just two armaments that had been sunset when the feature was first announced. Now thatweapon sunsetting is permanently gone inDestiny 2, Bungie may start adding back old items that are still relevant to modern content, and which could be used to fill out arsenal niches without breaking the meta. Both of these weapons were kinetic legendary drops, which means they’ll probably be relevant and viable across the board.

On top of that, it’s worth remembering that allNightfall weapons inDestiny 2can be Adept. Adept drops are exclusive to the highest-difficulty Grandmaster Nightfalls at any given time, but they have intrinsic stat bonuses, come with a unique default shader, and can be upgraded with considerably more powerful Adept mods. This means that the previously irrelevant Duty Bound and Silicon Neuroma could very well become meta options inWitch Queen, depending on what their perk pools end up being.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Stadia platforms, with the upcoming The Witch Queen expansion set to launch on February 22nd.
