Previously, Square Enix had said that theFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthrelease date would be in 2023. However, it was given a early 2024 release month at Summer Game Fest.Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthslipping to 2024was leaked before the announcement by Resetera user Im A Hero Too, who has accurately leaked other gaming news in the past. Besides claiming thatFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthwould release in 2024, they also said that Square Enix has “maybe 2 dozen games” in development for release between now and 2025. This would include the previously-leakedFinal Fantasy 9remake, aFinal Fantasy Tacticsremake/remaster, new content forFinal Fantasy 14, and more.
Of course,Final Fantasyfans should still take this information with a massive grain of salt, but it’s worth pointing out that theFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthrelease date delay announcement isn’t the first time that Im A Hero Too claims have been validated. They previously hinted that thePersona 3remake would be announced at the Xbox Showcaseon June 11, and now that has more or less been confirmed by Atlus itself.
Atlus accidentally leaked twoPersonagamesrecently, one being thePersona 3remake and the other being a tactical spin-off ofPersona 5calledPersona 5 Tactica. The trailers that Atlus leaked only mentioned PC and Xbox platforms and confirmed that both games would be releasing day one on Xbox Game Pass. Needless to say, this is a strong indication that the games will be featured at the Xbox Showcase on June 11, as previously teased by the leaker.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about apotentialFinal Fantasy 9remakeor aFinal Fantasy Tacticsremaster, but fans should keep their expectations in check until an official announcement comes from Square Enix itself.
