Summary

Baldur’s Gate 3is a game with a tremendous amount of weapons, both melee and ranged. Amongthe best melee weapons in the gameare Pikes, which are wielded with two hands and deal Piercing damage. Pikes require characters to have Martial Proficiency to get the most out of them and the character’s Strength modifier is added to the damage. Pikes also have extra reach over most other weapons, meaning that players can attack enemies who are 2.5m / 8ft away, an advantage that should not be overlooked

Every Pike inBG3has at least three basic actions, the first of these beingRush Attackwhich causes the player to charge forward and attack the first enemy in their way.Piercing Strikecan inflict Gaping Wounds which will cause enemies to take bonus damage every time they are attacked. Finally,Braceallows players to sacrifice movement on a turn for a better chance of dealing more damage. The best Pikes have bonus damage and unique effects.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Pike

1d10 Piercing

Common

N/A

There isn’t anything special about the basicPikeinBaldur’s Gate 3which deals the standard 1d10 Piercing damage. However, when compared with other early-game weapons that players willacquire at the start of Act 1, this is fairly good damage, and the extra reach of Pikes means that players will get in a few extra attacks against enemies that would otherwise be too far away.

When players are still at a low level, thePikeshould be available from multiple merchants for a cheap price, but it can also be picked up from many dead enemies throughout the game.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Pike +1

1d10 + 1 Piercing

Uncommon

ThePike +1has one simple advantage over the standard Pike and this is the Weapon Enchantment +1 it comes with, adding +1 to both Attack Rolls and Damage Rolls. This means that attacks with this weapon will not only do more damage, but they are more likely to hit successfully in the first place.

To get thePike +1players will need to head to the Githyanki Creche Y’llek where it can be purchased from the quartermaster A’jak’nir Jeera. Alternatively,if players find the Zhentarim Hideout, it can be bought from the trader Brem instead.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Unseen Menace Pike

1d10 +1 Piercing

Homing Weapon:This weapon will return to its owner when thrown.

TheReturning Pikeis an extremely interesting weapon inBaldur’s Gate 3as not only can it be thrown which is unique among Pikes, but it will actually return to the owner after landing and hopefully impaling a target. This adds a whole other dynamic tocombat inBG3,as with one weapon players have range and melee, and when they don’t have enough movement they can throw their Pike.

Other than the Homing Weapon skill, there isn’t anything too special about theReturning Pikewhich has the same damage as the Pike +1. To get their hands on theReturning Pikeplayers simply need tohead to the Goblin Campand purchase it from Grat the Trader.

Invisible Weapon:This weapon is Invisible while equipped. It loses this property for 2 rounds on a missed Attack Roll.Invisible: Affected entity can’t be disarmed. It has Advantage on Attack Rolls. It scores a Critical Hit when rolling a 19.

The aptly namedUnseen Menaceis a Pike with plenty of potential if its Invisible status is maintained by avoiding failed Attack Rolls. While the fact that it can’t be disarmed while Invisible will be periodically helpful, the main benefit is that two dice will be rolled instead of one with the highest number being taken. This means that players are more likely to land more attacks, and Critical Hits are also more likely.

TheUnseen Menacecan be purchased from the quartermaster A’jak’nir Jeera at Creche Y’llek. This Githyanki Crecheis located directly under Rosymorn Monastery on the way to the mountain pass, one of the ways to reach Act 3 inBaldur’s Gate 3.

1d10 +2 Piercing +1d4 Force

Although theBreaching Pikestaffhas no unique effects or actions, it is by far the best Pike inBaldur’s Gate 3thanks to its incredible damage. Not only does it deal the most Piercing damage with its Weapon Enchantment +2, but it also deals an additional 1d4 Force damage. Few enemies are resistant or immune to Force damage inBG3which lends it strength.

Given the power of theBreaching Pikestaff, players will have to reach Act 3before they can take it into battle. It can be found in the Lower City Sewers, more specifically in the Ancient Lair which is accessed through a passageway to the west of the Undercity Ruins waypoint.
