After a couple of years of support,Assassin’s Creed Valhallawill be coming to a close this year. The recently added Forgotten Saga saw a new roguelike mode added to the game, while Ubisoft also promised a “final chapter” would come to the game. It’s uncertain what it’ll add, but asAssassin’s Creed Valhallacomes to a close, Ubisoft will be looking at the franchise’s future with an event in September.

Still, it has had its ups and downs, and looking back it’s clear to see a lot of these now. One high point, of course, is how Valhalla includes several legacy skins, turning Eivor into Altair and more. This isn’t unusual for anAssassin’s Creedgame, but that speaks to the popularity of these characters that players want these outfits in the game somehow. It’s not exactly a legacy skin, but oneoutfit turns Eivor into Basim, which is pretty meta considering the endgame. It was a well-received addition, but it seems one important detail may have flown under the radar.

eivor hidden blade

Eivor may wield a Hidden Blade, but she is the only playable character with anactual Hidden Bladewho doesn’t wear it under her wrist. Her Viking ways see her wear it on top of her wrist instead, and it doesn’t matter if someone equips Altair’s skin or any other legacy character for that matter. It doesn’t change. However, as pointed out by Redditor Propato__Arthur, Basim’s outfit is an exception to this.

Equipping Basim’s Outfit to Eivor not only moves the Hidden Blade beneath her wrist, but it also removes her ring finger entirely. As many know, around this time, the Hidden Blade wasn’t as advanced as later games, and it required users to lose a finger to wield. Now, this ritual was a symbolic gesture by a certain point, but the earliest Hidden Blades had to have a finger removed as the blade would cut it (likeBayek’s finger in the bathhouse assassination).

eivor hand

Of course, few likely pause and look at Eivor’s hands in any in-game outfit, so it’s easy to understand how something like this could be missed. At the same time, it’s a nice nod to the legacy of the franchise. It’ll be interesting to see how the franchise shapes up in the coming years, with reportedly multipleAssassin’s Creedprojects in development, including theBasim-focusAC Riftand the hub-gameAC Infinity.

Assassin’s Creed Valhallais available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
