The cartographer is a returning merchant type inAssassin’s Creed Mirage. Much like in previous franchise entries, the cartographer can make it easier for players to find the various collectibles hidden throughout the map. However, a few things have changed since the last time this merchant showed up.

For one thing, there’s only a single cartographer in all ofAssassin’s Creed Mirage. This means the first thing players will need to do is find him since he isn’t easy to come across accidentally. This guide will explain where to find the cartographer and exactly how helpful he is to players who want to 100 percent the game.

How to Find the Cartographer

The single cartographer inAssassin’s Creed Mirageis in the Round City territory, southeast ofthe Palace of the Green Dome. He’s on the main street that goes from the southeast gate to the palace walls, and his stall is much closer to the palace than to the gate. Players will know where he is by looking for a star symbol on the map or the compass, and like other merchants this symbol appears on the medium and close zoom levels of the map.

Players should note that all four gates into the Round City are forbidden to Basim, so stealth is the only way to get in. Fortunately, the three working gates all have upper paths players can use to avoid guard attention. The Khurasan Gate Guardhouseis closed to traffic, but stealthy players can also infiltrate through this area without having to fight the guards.

What the Cartographer Offers

The cartographer’s wares are a set of maps organized by territory and collectible type. When players buy one, the game will revealthe location of a collectible on the game map. Players may have to zoom in to see these locations, but they’ll be there. Players must also visit a region at least once for its maps to appear in the cartographer’s inventory.

The three collectiblesthe cartographer can reveal are enigmas, gear chests, and lost books. The game features more collectibles like Mysterious Shards and Tales of Baghdad, but players will need to find them without the cartographer’s help.

The cartographer also can’t help players figure out the enigma riddles or the puzzles surrounding gear chests and lost books. While his maps can point players in the right direction, they don’t provide instructions or extra hints.

Finally, while most merchants in the game accept silver coins, the cartographer will only accept Scholar Tokens. Each map costs one Scholar Token.

On the bright side, if players have revealed any collectible’s location (their symbol has appeared on the map or compass), the cartographer won’t sell a map for that item. So if a player has found every gear chest in the game (even if they haven’t opened all of them), the cartographer won’t have any gear chest maps for sale.

The cartographer can take a lot of the guesswork and wandering around out of collecting, so players should ignore the “Suggested Rank: Assassin” for the Round City and find the cartographer early on. With a handful ofScholar Tokens gathered by pickpocketing, players can locate all the gear chests, lost books, and enigmas in the game.

Assassin’s Creed Mirageis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
