With the release of Season 11 ofApex Legendslast month, the developers at Respawn Entertainment have introduced many new features to the battle royale. While the season has broughtthe powerful CAR SMGand new Legend Ash, the biggest addition is possibly the massive Storm Point map. Since its release, many players have enjoyed the tropical island setting. However, some fans have noted a major problem with the map so far.
Since Storm Point was added to the map rotation, players have been claiming that the map is too large. A common complaint among gamers was that extended periods of time would pass without encountering an enemy squad. As a result, this made games feel slow at times, along with making it difficult to earn valuableRP during Ranked matches. This issue makes some sense considering that it was the largest map designed by the developers to date. However, it seems that a potential fix for this problem could be inbound following a new leak.

Recently, new details were discovered hinting at a potential increase in the size of lobbies forApex Legends. This news came via a December 10 YouTube video from GarretLeaks, a reputable leaker and dataminer. In the video, he discussed the evidence behind this potential lobby size increase.
According to GarretLeaks, changes to game files had recently been made regarding private matches. These alterations involved increases in the size of these private match lobbies from 80 to 100 players, evidencing that Respawn had begun testing matches with increased player counts. While the progress of these tests remains unknown, they suggest that larger lobbies for regular games could become a feature in the future.
This would be an interesting change if Respawn decided to implement it. However, it’s worth noting that this has not been confirmed by Respawn, meaning that these larger lobbies might never see the light of day. Nevertheless, the idea seems plausible, given the complaints about this on Storm Point. In addition, many other games in the battle royale genre include more players in each lobby than inApex Legends. For example,Call of Duty: Warzonesupports matches of up to 150 players. That’s more than double the size found in Respawn’s title.
Time will tell if this change eventually makes it intoApex Legends. If it does, perhaps the developer will include the increased player count asa new type of LTMto gauge the reception of this change from members of the community.
Apex Legendsis available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
