With the Coronavirus currently leading to a number of events and big releases being canceled, it’s clear that the media industry will likely be taking a massive hit for the rest of 2020.F9,the latest entry in theFastand Furioussaga, was delayed earlier today, being pushed back as far as April next year, while a number of major esports events and major gaming conventions have been flat out canceled. It seems the next entry in theFast and Furiousfranchise isn’t the only film release affected by the fast-spreading virus, however, withA Quiet Place 2also seeing a significant delay.

Announced via a statement on John Krasinski’s Twitter, it appears the highly-anticipated horror sequel will be delayed to an as of yet unspecified date. Krasinski claims that this is to allow for fans to all see the movie at the same time, with the director worrying that many won’t be able to view the movie due to theCoronavirus' viral spread across many of the biggest countries in the world.

In the statement,Krasinskiclaims “one of the things I’m most proud of is that people have said our movie is one you have to see all together. Well due to the ever-changing circumstances of the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that.” He continues, “as insanely excited as we all are for you to see this movie… I’m gonna wait to release the film till we can all see it together.” He finalizes the post by stating “so here’s to our group movie date! See you soon!”

While the delay is no doubt very disappointing for fans of the first film who were clamoring to see where Kransiki’s story would go next, delayingA Quiet Place 2is no doubt a smarter idea in the long run. Not only is it a smart safety precaution for fans of the films to avoid crowded cinema screenings whileworries about the Coronavirus remain at an all-time high, but it will also make for a more fitting experience when fans of all nationalities can enjoy the film at the same time.

WithF9and the most recentJames Bondfilm suffering the same fate asA Quiet Place 2,there’s no doubt that the box office will take a major hit in 2020 without three of its biggest releases. Although they’re sure to be raging successes when they do arrive in the near future, it will no doubt be a rough year for several studios banking on the success of this trifecta of giant blockbusters.

A Quiet Place 2will be available in theatres at a currently unspecified date.
