Unfortunately, anyPlatinumGamesfans interested in playingWorld of Demonsfor themselves is running out of time to do so. Starting January 18,World of Demonswill no longer be available to download from Apple Arcade. And then on February 1,World of Demonswill become completely unplayable, even for those that have downloaded the game already. WithWorld of Demonsnot having much in the way of online elements, it’s unclear why a shutdown is necessary, but regardless, it’s happening on February 1.

When is World of Demons Shutting Down?

It’s a shame that a title from an acclaimed developer like PlatinumGames will effectively cease to exist. However, this is not the first time that a PlatinumGames-developed title has been shut down forever.Babylon’s Fallsuffered a similar fate, with that Square Enix-published live service game turning out to be an absolute commercial disaster.Babylon’s Fallshutting downmeant that it was already impossible to play through Platinum’s entire library of games, butWorld of Demonsbeing a single-player, non-live service game makes its shutdown sting a lot more.

Some of Platinum’s other titles, while not shut down, have proven difficult to come by after getting delisted. Various PlatinumGames titles have been delisted over the years, including 2014’sThe Legend of Korra, 2015’sTransformers: Devastation, and 2016’sTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan. While not nearly as devastating as a game being shut down and made inaccessible forever, games getting delisted still makes it hard for gamers to play them.

While it seems unlikely, there’s always a chance thatWorld of Demonswill come back in some way. Platinum has remastered and re-released its games on various occasions, like it did withThe Wonderful 101: Remastered, but there’s no guarantee that the same will happen forWorld of Demons. Needless to say, anyone interested in playing the game for themselves should make sure they download it as soon as possible from Apple Arcade and get their fill before the game is shut down forever on February 1.
